Perfect Pollensa winter plans

Excursions into the countryside and visits to the local market are two of the best things to do in Pollensa during the winter months. Find out more about these and other activities:

Puig de Maria Walk

The walk to Puig de Maria is ideal for families searching for an activity that they can do with their children. It’s a route with little complexity since it is a short climb to a well-defined path that is mostly asphalt and only lasts about an hour.

The stroll takes you through a lovely natural landscape dominated by holm oaks. The ascent concludes at a large esplanade with panoramic views of the village of Pollensa. There is a recreational area with tables where you may recharge your batteries with a delicious afternoon snack.

A visit to the local market

Every Sunday, from 8:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., the Plaza Mayor of Pollensa is packed with stalls that stretch along numerous streets of the village and offer visitors a broad range of fruit, vegetables, handicrafts, and typical Mallorcan gourmet delicacies at the local market .

The Convent of Santo Domingo

The Convent of Santo Domingo is a must-see for architecture buffs visiting Pollensa. Built bythe Dominicans between the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries, it now houses the Pollensa Municipal Museum, which features works by various contemporary artists, Gothic paintings, a Buddhist mandala, and archaeological finds.

Museum Dionís Bennàsar

A visit to the museum devoted to the painter Dionís Bennàssar is a must on every cultural tour of Pollensa. The artist spent much of his life in the typical Mallorcan house that holds his collection.

As a result, a visit to this museum is not only a terrific way to learn about Bennàssar’s artistic legacy but also to reflect on his personal belongings and the decor of what was once his home.

Joan March Gardens and Desbrull Tower

Winter days with the sun invite you to discover places like the Joan March Gardens and the Desbrull tower. These gardens combine a public park and a botanical garden and provide a taste of the lush indigenous vegetation with wild olive trees, yews, orange and carob trees, palmettos, and cypresses, among other specimens.

It’s also possible to learn a little more about Pollensa’s history by visiting these gardens. They feature the Desbrull family’s medieval Gothic tower and a statue of local hero Joan MasHe commanded the Pollensa residents in their defence from one of the harshest pirate invasions of the 16th century and aided them in their triumph.
